Material Processing and Fluid Handling

Thermoplastics and aluminum: Our technologies combine filling, molding, and sealing of various materials in different sizes and shapes. The key feature: molding is highly precise and performed inline. You benefit from secure processes, contamination-free production, and reduced manufacturing costs.

We master liquid handling across all volumes: whether in milliliters, microliters, or picoliters – rely on absolute precision. We implement dedicated technologies, speeds, and applications tailored to your requirements. Depending on the application, we either use our own solutions or integrate those of renowned system partners.

When small amounts of reagents are spotted, the liquid often needs to be actively dried to ensure homogeneous adhesion to the substrate. Our systems employ various technologies: infrared radiation, warm air, and dry cold air. The challenge lies in coordinating the properties of the reagent, substrate, and drying technology.

Every powder has its solution: depending on powder rheology, required dosing accuracy, or speed, we adapt existing technologies. Technologies include:

  • Centrifugal Technology: For free-flowing and slightly clumping powders. Dosing range 5-1000 mg, up to 40 doses/min.
  • Auger Technology (Screw Doser): For cohesive powders. Dosing range 5-1000 mg, up to 90 doses/min.
  • Membrane Dosing System: For abrasive powders. Dosing range 50-1000 mg, up to 20 doses/min.
  • Powder Pipetting: For cohesive powders. Dosing range 1-400 mg, up to 20 doses/min.

Thanks to robotic integration, Rychiger can handle and assemble parts in various ways. All solutions are tailor-made to automate movements, ensuring consistent product quality. Additionally, we use robots to move cartons, trays, and tubs.

Our machines reliably assemble individual parts for POC technologies and microfluidics, offering high quality and performance. We use standard technologies to achieve high-quality snap fits, secure bonding, or tight seals between parts.

Technologies for Assembly, Labeling, and Quality Assurance

Each material gets its appropriate cutting or stamping technology. We process plastics and metals with precision using knives. For plastics, we also use ultrasonic technology to avoid jagged edges. Stamping processes can be combined with sealing processes (One-Stroke Punching & Sealing) to ensure precise positioning of the film on the container. These technologies are applicable to both metals and plastics, ensuring precise results.

We address various product requirements and materials through tailored sealing technologies. In addition to heat sealing, we offer impulse sealing, ultrasonic sealing, and laser welding. For microfluidic applications, we use bonding technologies to seal tiny channels.

Marking, labeling, inkjet printing, or thermal transfer printing: Our wide range of marking solutions allows for individual selection, which can be applied to all materials used in POC technologies.

To ensure your product is clearly identifiable, we apply labels to your products. These can be pre-printed or printed inline. Typical information includes product names, batch details, or serialization codes (machine-readable or human-readable), printed in a recipe-controlled manner. Upon request, we offer interfaces to your ERP system to ensure the accuracy of the printed areas.

As a cost-effective alternative to labeling or thermal transfer printing, we offer laser-based product marking. Engraving removes the top layer of the product using a laser beam, while etching melts the top layer. Both methods generate a visually appealing and permanent (temperature-resistant) marking on your product.

Whenever tapes, labels, or covers need to be applied to microfluidic chips, pressure-sensitive adhesives are the safest choice. These high-viscosity liquids do not set or harden, making them gentle on the product. They simplify the handling of POC technologies for users. We master PSA handling and the bubble-free application of various applications, including vacuum-based application.

We ensure the best quality and assembly results through camera- and sensor-based inspections. High-quality camera systems are used to check for labels, seal seam quality, fill levels, specific positions, and color recognition. Sensors monitor the presence of parts and oversee force-position-controlled assembly processes.

The leak tightness of POC products is a critical quality attribute, often ensured via inline inspection. Various solutions are used for leak testing of your products during incoming inspection of empty containers or after sealing. This guarantees that only safe products are put into circulation.

Different POC technologies require different environmental parameters. Whether it's relative humidity, oxygen concentration, or nitrogen, our technical solutions allow for precise monitoring and adjustment.

From small semi-automated systems to fully automated and integrated solutions, our modular platforms ensure flexibility, scalability, and innovative processes to meet your automation and digitalization needs both now and in the future.
